ReciteRosary.com is a free Catholic prayer website. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.

What you can do without giving us anything

You can pray the Rosary, read the prayers and pages, use the novena tracker and listen to the audio without an account and without giving us your name or email.

Prayer requests

If you submit a prayer request, we collect:

• Your name (a first name is fine) and your intention, which you type in.
• Your email address, only if you choose to give it. It is used only to send a confirmation and to tell you when your reply is ready. We do not add it to a mailing list or share it.
• A one-way scrambled version of your IP address (a hash), used only to limit spam and repeat submissions. We do not store your actual IP address with the request.

If you leave "Share publicly on the Prayer Wall" ticked, your name and intention appear on the Prayer Wall for anyone to read. If you untick it, the request stays private but we still pray for it. Please do not put surnames, phone numbers, addresses, medical details or anything else you would not want strangers to read in a public request.

Submissions that look like spam, links or advertising may be held back for review before they appear.

Replies written with AI

Directory submissions

If you suggest a site for the Catholic Resources directory, we store the site name, web address, category and description you send, plus your email if you give it, so that we can review the suggestion.

Cookies, analytics and your browser

• Google Analytics is used to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies and receives information such as your approximate location and device type. You can block it with your browser settings or a privacy extension.
• Google Search Console gives us search statistics. It does not see your activity on this site.
• Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
• Your browser's local storage remembers small things such as your language choice, whether you dismissed a banner, and your place in the novena tracker. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
• The site can be installed as an app and keeps copies of some pages so it works offline.

Who can see your information

We do not sell your information. It is stored on our web hosting provider's servers. The services named above (Anthropic, Google) process the limited information described. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep prayer requests and their replies until you ask us to remove them, or until we remove them ourselves.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct or delete a prayer request or directory submission. Email hello@reciterosary.com with the first name you used, roughly when you submitted it and the first few words of the request, so we can find it. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local data-protection law, and you can contact us about those too.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this page

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and its date.
