About the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Novena
Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a Byzantine-style icon of Mary holding the Child Jesus. Tradition places its origin on the island of Crete, and it was brought to Rome in 1499.
In 1866 Pope Pius IX entrusted the icon to the Redemptorist Order and asked them to make Our Lady of Perpetual Help known throughout the world. In the icon the Child Jesus grips His mother’s hand as the archangels Michael and Gabriel hold the instruments of His Passion, and one of His sandals hangs loose.
The Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is June 27.

🙏 Novena Prayer: Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Mother of Perpetual Help, you stay with your children in every trial. I come to you with my worries, my needs and my hopes.
As Jesus held your hand in the icon, let me hold fast to you. Obtain for me patience in suffering, strength in temptation and trust in God’s plan.
(Mention your intention here)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Pray this prayer once each day for nine consecutive days, beginning on June 18.
